Seychelles is an ornothologists paradise whether you are a beginner or have one thousand twitches you will find something here to enthrall and beguile you. For beginners all you need is a good bird book, a pair of binoculars and a destination such as Seychelles which can provide you with some of the rarest bird species on earth including the Black Parrot and the Magpie Robin. The Magpie Robin is found on only four of the islands within the Seychelles and the Black Parrot on Praslin, around the Vallee de Mai, but also at Villa Flamboyant where they have taken a liking to having lunch at Madame Cresswell’s orchard!
Some more birds to look out for include the Seychelles Kestrel, which is the only residential small falcon in the Seychelles, the Blue Pigeon which is reputed to be the most appealing bird on the islands as well as the Scops owl, which can be identified by its frog like cry. Make sure to take a trip to La Digue to find the Black Paradise Flycatcher, which is found no where else on earth!
